The mejhoul (مجهول), medjoul, or medjool is a variety of dates originating from the oases of Tafilalet in central-eastern Morocco. Orange-brown to dark brown in color, very large in size, round to oval, it is fleshy, soft and very sweet; its flavor and consistency are reminiscent of honey and chestnut jam.

Very popular at parties and other wedding ceremonies in Morocco and among the Moroccan diaspora, mejhoul is often served filled with almonds or sweet almond paste, colored or not
